As we age the collagen in our body starts to deplete. Collagen is a hard, insoluble, and fibrous protein that makes up one-third of the protein in the human body. In the dermis, or the middle layer of our skin, collagen helps to form a fibrous network of cells called fibroblasts, upon which new cells can grow. As this natural protein loses its ability to hold firm against gravity the skin begins to sag or pulls down.

Non-invasive Lift

Ultherapy® reverses this process by stimulating the creation of new collagen. So, whether you’re in your 30s 40s 50s or are more mature the collagen in your skin has begun its process of depletion. This can be detected in skin that is less firm, lowered eyebrow, sagging skin and general skin laxity.

Before Your Treatment
Schedule a one-on-one consultation with one of our Di-Or Clinic’s Skin Therapist. During this session, she will address your concerns, assess your skin and determine if you are a candidate for the treatment.

Once you book your Ultherapy^® procedure, you won’t need to follow any special preparations or skincare regimens in advance of the treatment.
To enhance your comfort, your Skin Therapist may recommend that you take an over-the-counter or prescribed medication before the treatment.

During Your Treatment

After cleansing the skin and identifying the specific areas to be treated, your Ultherapy practitioner will apply the ultrasound gel and place the smooth treatment applicator against your skin. She will then use Ultherapy’s ultrasound imaging to first see deep within the skin to determine optimal placement of the treatment energy, and then deliver the focused ultrasound energy beneath the skin’s surface.

During the treatment delivery, you will feel tiny amounts of energy being deposited to precise depths, indicating that the collagen-building process has been initiated.

Comfort levels can vary from person to person, but the sensation only lasts while the energy is being delivered. 

The length of your treatment will depend on the area being treated and your individual treatment plan. A face and neck procedure typically takes 60-90 minutes, while a chest treatment takes approximately 30 minutes.

After Your Treatment

With Ultherapy, there is no downtime! You can return to your normal activities immediately after your procedure without any post-treatment restrictions or requirements.

Your skin might appear flushed at first, but the redness should disappear within a few hours. Some patients experience slight swelling, tingling or tenderness to the touch, but these are mild and temporary in nature.

Other, less common post-procedural effects may include temporary bruising or numbness on small areas of skin. As with any medical procedure, there is the possibility for other rare effects, which your practitioner will review with you.

What results can l expect from Ultherapy®

Results vary with each person however one treatment will last up to 12 months and results will occur naturally over the 2-3 month period where you will experience further tightening of the skin. As a non-invasive procedure you are awake during the treatment and with no downtime you can resume your activities immediately after treatment.

Considerations & Risks

If you had dermal fillers in the last (weeks/months???) or facial implants in the last (weeks/months???) you should not have this procedure. The timing of this procedure with other treatments is critical for optimal results.

As this treatment is non-surgical there are minimal risks. There have been no serious adverse events observed during the clinical study evaluation of the Ulthera^® System. Ultrasound energy has been used in the medical field for more than 50 years. In addition, every Ultherapy^® practitioner receives extensive procedural training and tools, so you can feel confident in choosing Ultherapy^® in conjunction with your treating physician. You may experience some redness for a few hours following the procedure. It is not uncommon to experience slight swelling for a few days, or tingling/tenderness to the touch for a few weeks after the procedure, but these are usually mild and temporary in nature. There is the possibility for other less common post-procedural effects, such as temporary small areas of bruising or numbness, which your physician will review with you.
