Thread Lift (long threads)

WHAT IS A THREAD LIFT?

A thread lift is a non-surgical, minimally invasive facelift, necklift and eyebrow lift that uses special suture threads to “lift up” sagging skin on the neck, face and eyebrow. The procedure is less time-consuming than a traditional facelift and there is virtually little recovery or downtime. The end result is a more refreshed, relaxed, natural and youthful appearance.

WHO IS A THREAD LIFT CANDIDATE?

The best candidate is in good physical condition and has normal skin thickness. If you have had a prior surgical facelift and are currently experiencing sagging skin, you may be an ideal candidate.

This procedure is also an excellent option for younger men and women who would like to delay the signs of aging or achieve subtle rejuvenation results in the brow, cheek, jowls, or neck.

In general, thread lift patients have the following characteristics:

  • Sagging, old-looking skin around the face or jawline
  • Loss of volume or structure in the face
  • A desire to avoid invasive surgery, either due to medical reasons or personal preference
  • A desire to avoid general anaesthesia
  • Realistic expectations about what this procedure can accomplish

A primary consultation will determine if you are a candidate for threads lift.

HOW DOES A THREAD LIFT WORK?

The threads used in the procedure are made of a resorbable and biocompatible components, which has proven its worth in various medical fields: The main component is Poly L- lactic acid (PLLA) has been used for many years in various pharmaceutical and medical applications such as suture thread, orthopedic pins.

The repositioning effect is immediate. It is the result of tissue compression and skin elevation at the time of implanting the suture. After inserting the suture, the doctor applies slight pressure on the treated area. In this way, the doctor reshapes the contours of your face and makes it visibly smoother.

Poly L-lactic acid (PLLA) is a well-known polymer that shows an excellent on-going regenerating effect because of its biocompatability and biodegradable properties.

The small cones on the threads provide traction and fixation points, a natural foreign body reaction then reinforces this, by the build-up of new collagen formation. This action is what helps restore shapeliness to the face and neck.

THE THREAD LIFT PROCEDURE

In general thread lifts are a local anaesthetic procedure taking about 60 – 90 minutes. Patient comfort is a paramount concern for us, so we do everything possible to ensure that patients are well taken care of.

The doctor will then determine the best sites to insert the “thread” in order to achieve the desired final result. This process is repeated several times in the targeted area, in order to create the desired shape and lift.

RECOVERY AND RESULTS

Patients who undergo a thread lift are usually able to resume normal activities quite quickly. There may be some bruising or swelling after the procedure, but this should subside within 1-5 days.

Some Thread Lift results will be noticeable nearly instantly and it will appear better with time as it stimulates your body to produce collagen.
