Face - Pseudofolliculitis Barbae

Pseudofolliculitis Barbae is a common inflammatory reaction of the hair follicle.  Most commonly found on the face, this reaction is caused by ingrown hairs that appear after shaving. The result is inflamed, painful, red bumps which occur when hairs get stuck inside the hair follicles. The hairs usually grow up and straight out, but sometimes they grow back into the follicle, which causes it to remain under the skin and therefore results in these painful bumps.
